They are called 100 Yen Shops because most of their merchandise are priced 100 Yen, though 5 Yen is added to the amount as the 5% consumption tax. In any case, the prices are still quite low for 100 or 105 Yen! One can actually shop without spending too much and walk out the store with several happy purchases (^^,)
